Network Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and support IP/MPLS, Ethernet, and optical transport networks, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Perform configuration, provisioning, and testing of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and DWDM systems.
  • Monitor network health and performance using monitoring tools, and respond to incidents, outages, and service degradations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across Layer 1–3, collaborating with vendors and internal teams as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support capacity planning, software upgrades, and integration of new network infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices across all network environments.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide Tier 2/3 support for critical network issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in network engineering within telecom, ISP, or data center environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking protocols, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and QoS.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, or similar network platforms; certifications like CCNP, JNCIS, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Familiarity with optical transmission systems (e.g., DWDM, OTN) and Layer 1 transport technologies.
  • Proficient with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Zabbix, SolarWinds, NetBox, Wireshark).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global network operations team.
  • Mandarin language proficiency is an advantage for coordination with China-based teams and vendors.
